A New Perspective

Florence and I are getting to know each other. It's asymmetrical streets, hole-in-the-wall shops, busy markets, maniacal traffic, noises, smells, and people. School begins tomorrow, and with that the day-to-day routine. It's weird to think that we're staying long enough for that to happen. After this past week it's apparent that in a semester's time we'll have made Florence our own, and I'm in no hurry to leave.

Don't worry though, I'm already forming a list in my head of things I plan to do when I get back to America...take a 20 minute hot shower...eat a cheeseburger...hear people speak English...drink flavored coffee...understand what is on TV...(to be continued)

Speaking of leaving, we booked our outbound flight for Paris last night. We'll be spending spring break both there and in London. As for here in Florence, my intension for the next post is some pictures of a "day in the life" from the perspective of someone living, navigating and seeing the city. I've attached a few below, and after them we'll get on to our climb up to the top of dome to witness the amazing view of Florence from above.

Spacious streets

Shops everywhere

Cooking Italian, as if we have a choice

This is for you mom

We climbed the dome of Santa Maria today to see the city of Florence in a new perspective. 463 steps later (you can refer to the last post for scale), we were rewarded with this:

And then we had to walk back down.
